The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. We are the only organization improving the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
The American Cancer Society directly improves the lives of people with cancer and their families. ACS is working to increase access and remove barriers to high-quality care for patients and families through our programs. In 2023, the American Cancer Society (ACS) invested over $258,000 in transportation and lodging grants for Alabama health system partners. This investment enabled these partners to provide patients and their families with crucial transportation to treatment and lodging, alleviating the burden that might otherwise lead some to forgo treatment. Without transportation and lodging, many patients may not be able to follow their treatment plan. In fact, patients with cancer cite transportation to and from treatment and lodging near their treatment site as a critical need. Last year, over 1,500 families benefited from these services, ensuring they could access the care they needed.
All proceeds from ticket sales will support “access to care” for patients traveling for their cancer treatments in Alabama. These funds can be used for help with transportation or places to stay during cancer treatments.
